The 2002 Reunion was as "expected" both fun and as unexpected.......NOT WET!

Of course this was a special year.  The Marching Band field was dedicated FOREVER as the Blase S. Scarnati Marching Band Field.

The dedication document read as follows:

Blase S. Scarnati, Slippery Rock University professor emeritus of music, was the Grand Marshall of today's homecoming parade.  Mr. Scarnati was named for his dedication and service to students.  In addition, Slippery Rock University Trustees have honored Scarnati by naming the field we stand on today, the "Blase S. Scarnati Marching Band Field."

A music educator for more than 32 years, Mr.'S' was Conductor of University Bands and director of SRU's Marching Rockets and Rocklettes.  Scarnati holds the SRU Presdient's Award for Outstanding Service and Pennsylvania's Outstanding Bandmaster honor.  He retired in 1996 and now devotes much of his time to the Muscician's Concet Band and its summer and Christmas holiday performances.

The Scarnati family, friends and former students have created The Blase S. Scarnati Endowed Scholarship for Marching Band Students as a way to honor Mr. 'S.' As part of The Campaign for Slippery Rock University, this scholarship will provide support for today's SRU students.  A goal of $65,000 was set in a fundraising effort.  Today, this endowment is over $67,000 in gifts and commitments, and will provide a minimum of FOUR $1,000 annual awards for students in the SRU marching band.

Marching Band members from over 4 decades attended from all over the country including as far as California.

There was plenty of renewals of friendships and of course stories told over and over again.

Now before we get to the pictures we ask you help with the web site!  If you were there and took pictures please email them to us at marchingrockets@websiteassist.com or if you don't have them in electronic format you can mail them to us at:

As soon as we scan them and load them, we will mail them right back to you (just make sure you also send us your address!)  This way we can add plenty of the pictures to share not only with those who WERE there but to include those who could not attend.

Thanks!

Ok enough how about some pictures.
